„VOID OF DAYS“ _ A SERIES OF LAYERED WORKS BY MANI NEJAD
WELCOME TO STYLE FILE// Quick-read portraits of artists that cought our eye. THIS MONTH: MANI NEJAD// Lives and works in New York/ Focus on painting, drawing and
collage/ Monochromatic and restraint colours meet complex composition.
IN THIS ISSUE ….
The artist’s latest series „VOID OF DAYS“ – a suite of collages and remixes based on random footage and found material of our daily lives. The works consist of poly-image layerings that are flowing and merging into each other conveying a dense visual experience while at the same time telling ambiguous stories. They take reference to what is both familiar and unsettling: Today’s visual overload blurs the lines of perception and assembles myriads of snippets and clippings to a caleidoscopic, irridiscent picture of life.
VOID OF DAYS
How to read a caleidoscope? It oscillates, it is missing legibility, clarity, structure and validity, it seems to be void of clear statement and meaning – at first glance. On a closer look though we may find contextual assignments, personal references and suggestions for various narratives. Strangely enough ambiguity releases new and unusual, unexpected ways of perception.
