OPEN NOW _ FIAC PARIS AND HORS LES MURS 2014

Presenting its 41th edition this year FIAC art fair is again staging its exhibitions within the impressive settings of the Grand Palais in Paris. With some 191 galleries attending – from 26 countries, specializing in modern and contemporary art as well as emerging positions, the organizers highlight their premise to provide tangible support to the actors of the emerging art scene in its international dimension.

Prix Marcel Duchamps is one of the promotional events that was established in 2000 by the Association pour la Diffusion Internationale de l’Art Français in partnership with the Centre Pompidou in order to  foster international recognition of artists working in France in the domain of visual and fine arts. Nominees for this year are:

Théo Mercier, born in 1984,reprensented by Gabrielle Maubrie, Paris; Julien Prévieux, born in 1974, reprensented by Jousse Entreprise, Paris; Florian et Michaël Quistrebert, born in 1982 and 1976, reprensented by galerie Crèvecoeur, Paris and Juliette Jongma, Amsterdam; Evariste Richer, born in 1969, reprensented by Meessen De Clercq, Brussels and Schleicher et Lange, Berlin.

Just like in previous years FIAC again collaborates with the Domaine national du Louvre et des Tuileries and presented its iconic outdoor show “Hors les murs” located in the romantic setting of the Tuileries Gardens. The growing interest for this annual event among galleries and artists – together with the exceptional beauty of the site enabled the organizers to bring together some two dozen projects, including sculptures, installations and ephemeral creations.

The success of “Hors les murs” had prompted FIAC to edit a retrospective publication entitled “Aux Tuileries” last year in collaboration with the Louvre Museum. Prefaced by Henri Loyrette, President Director of the Louvre Museum, Marie-Laure Bernadac, curator of Contemporary Art at the Louvre Museum and Jennifer Flay, Director of FIAC, it features also interesting insights into the history the Tuileries retracing earlier ephemeral presence of contemporary artworks in the Gardens since their creation. Its still an exquisitely beautiul and informative read.
